Elect Shannon Singleton
Multnomah County District 2 (North & Northeast Portland)
Shannon Singleton is the most trusted candidate for the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners District 2. She knows how to solve problems and offers meaningful solutions to improve people's lives across the county.
Several notable organizations have endorsed Singleton because she has the relevant experience to accurately identify the problem and lead a long-term plan to solve it.
Her endorsements include: the Portland Mercury, AFSCME 75, APANO, Basic Rights Oregon PAC, Building Power for Communities of Color, Color PAC, East County Rising, IBEW 48, Next Up Action Fund, Oregon Alliance for Gun Safety, Oregon Futures Lab, Oregon Working Families Party, Portland Association of Teachers, Portland for All, SEIU, and United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.
The County Board of Commissioners sets policies and budgets for delivering mental and behavioral health services, public health, senior, veteran, and housing services. Commissioners also review and approve the Sheriff, District Attorney, and library system budgets.
Singleton brings unique expertise that is critical to our County Board of Commissioners. She has nearly 30 years of experience working directly with people experiencing poverty, which gives her insight rarely seen among elected officials. This includes nearly five years of experience as the Executive Director of the SAFE Shelter, JOIN Executive Director, and a manager at the behavioral health agency Cascadia Health.

She has hands-on knowledge and expertise in housing policy and was a policy advisor to former Governor Kate Brown. In 2022, she agreed to temporarily manage the Joint Office of Homeless Services, so she is well-versed in the key issues plaguing this office.
We believe she understands how to improve our region through the County Board of Commissioners. She is prioritizing:
Housing: Improving our homeless service system and expanding access to safe, affordable housing for our most vulnerable residents.
Healthcare: Ensuring that healthcare, particularly Medicaid and County health services, is available, affordable, and secure for working families.
Public safety: Reimagining our public safety and criminal legal system to ensure we have holistic approaches that lead to safer communities.
Singleton is the most prepared and skilled candidate in District 2 for the County Board of Commissioners. She has the necessary experience and skills to be effective in her role because she deeply understands housing policy, why people are houseless, health care, public safety, and critical anti-poverty programs. No other candidate brings her depth of knowledge on the issues that the County oversees.
Sam Adams is unfit for the Multnomah County
Adams has a long and controversial history in the Portland city government.
Fired for bullying: In 2023, he was fired by Mayor Ted Wheeler from the city after six female employees complained of his abusive behavior.
Callous and ineffective policy: As an advisor to Mayor Wheeler, he championed a cruel, inhumane, and potentially unsafe plan for the City to invest millions in tent cities with armed guards for people who cannot afford housing.
Workplace misconduct and dishonesty: When he was a city commissioner, he had a sexual relationship with a teenage intern—then lied about it for several months until after he was elected Mayor.
An architect of the housing crisis: As Chief of Staff to former Mayor Vera Katz, and then as a Commissioner and Mayor, Adams did little to ensure affordable housing kept pace with the needs in the region as Portland saw dramatic growth. In fact, under his leadership, Prosper Portland (formerly Portland Development Commission), over-invested millions with private developers rather than in affordable units.
