Accessible Shelters and Affordable Housing

We need accessible shelter services and affordable housing.

Portland’s mental health and housing unaffordability crises are decades in the making. No one person, leader, or organization is responsible.

Portland For All believes addressing the crisis requires a collective solution to unite Portlanders through compassion and evidence-based practices.

Research shows that solutions addressing the root causes of poverty–affordable housing, living wage jobs, and comprehensive healthcare—are most effective. Permanently affordable housing, mental health and addiction services, and safe shelters are all critical to addressing the housing crisis.

We need long-term solutions, not short-term bandaids. Mandating tent cities and criminalizing poverty is ineffective, callous, and wrong. They do nothing to address the problem in the long run.
